We easily blame Global warming for the extinction of certain species… And most of the time, we are right. Oil spills, thining of ozone layer and so soaring temperatures, etc, etc. The list of reasons and so their bad effects is bit long and so is the list of extinct species.
But I happen to get one more cruel reason for the extinction, cruel in the sense, as it is direct action of human, it is selfish act of human, just for sake of earning some good money, they do not give a thought about it. Khushi, when human don’t mind killing another human and selling human body parts, for money, how they will think of any other species? Yeah!!
But I know and believe, those are very few, still humanity is alive to the large extent.People will be wondering after few years, where all giant turtles have gone, how it is becoming a rare species. And as I said, many of us will blame Global warming. But the reason is “The Turtle eggs are stolen to be sold. ” ?????
Wake up friends!! We can still save one of species from becoming extinct!!! We can save turtles from becoming extinct.

Scene 1 : A very very very giant Shark jumped so high out of the ocean and hit a plane in the sky, which was flying above more than 1000 feet high from the ocean.
Scene 2 : The tail of a giant octopus just brushes against the huge cruise and it was drowned in the ocean in no time.
I was watching this fiction movie with wide open mouth. I simply can’t believe it. Was it a nightmare or wild imagination? Even in the movie, except few researchers, nobody believed it. One of researcher explained the nightmare as ” those gigantic animals are prehistoric, who were able to survive in polar zone but now are compelled to come out of their zone because of drastic change there as result of Gobal warming!!! ”
Global warming…
.. yesss, all so called evolutions done without pre- thinking of further consequences.. clubbed to give out this.. global warming!! A nightmare!!I got the goosebumps all over my body. This nightmare or fiction can be real too. If not prehistoric, any of genetic evolution can also bring out such disasters.
We humans are just running a blind race. We just want a growth, a change for our convenience and comfort. The generation before didn’t think about it and reached to nuclear wars. Our generation is doing the same and reached natural disasters like tsunami and other results of global warming. And the very bitter fact ,we are still blindly running in so called forth direction.. as if chasing few more nightmares.
I am not sure whether I will die my natural death or gulped by such giant animal or swallowed by some tsunami… and that make my nightmare a real.. no more a dream..

After couple of unsuccessful trials for ban on usage of plastic bags, finally Indian Government came out with a rule last month, this time instead of banning, it insisted on controlling the usage of plastic bags. According to that rule, all supermarkets now charges for plastic bags. And I observed the positive result. People are now carrying their own bags, to save their money. But, the people are still carrying plastic bags though now of their own, not jute bags or say green thing yet.
May be Government trying to imply some moderate rules after failure of abrupt rules.
In context of the green thing.. I happen to read one mail…
In the line at the store, the cashier told an older woman that she should bring her own grocery bags because plastic bags weren’t good for the environment.
The woman apologized to him and explained, “We didn’t have the green thing back in my day.”
The clerk responded, “That’s our problem today. Your generation did not care enough to save our environment.”
She was right — our generation didn’t have the green thing in its day.
Back then, we returned milk bottles, soda bottles and beer bottles to the store. The store sent them back to the plant to be washed and sterilized and refilled, so it could use the same bottles over and over. So they really were recycled.
But we didn’t have the green thing back in our day.
We walked up stairs, because we didn’t have an escalator in every store and office building. We walked to the grocery store and didn’t climb into a 300-horsepower machine every time we had to go two blocks.
But she was right. We didn’t have the green thing in our day.
Back then, we washed the baby’s diapers because we didn’t have the throw-away kind. We dried clothes on a line, not in an energy gobbling machine burning up 220 volts — wind and solar power really did dry the clothes. Kids got hand-me-down clothes from their brothers or sisters, not always brand-new clothing. But that old lady is right; we didn’t have the green thing back in our day.
Back then, we had one TV, or radio, in the house — not a TV in every room. And the TV had a small screen the size of a handkerchief (remember them?), not a screen the size of the state of Montana.
In the kitchen, we blended and stirred by hand because we didn’t have electric machines to do everything for us.
When we packaged a fragile item to send in the mail, we used a wadded up old newspaper to cushion it, not Styrofoam or plastic bubble wrap.
Back then, we didn’t fire up an engine and burn gasoline just to cut the lawn. We used a push mower that ran on human power. We exercised by working so we didn’t need to go to a health club to run on treadmills that operate on electricity.
But she’s right; we didn’t have the green thing back then.
We drank from a fountain when we were thirsty instead of using a cup or a plastic bottle every time we had a drink of water.
We refilled writing pens with ink instead of buying a new pen, and we replaced the razor blades in a razor instead of throwing away the whole razor just because the blade got dull.
But we didn’t have the green thing back then.
Back then, people took the streetcar or a bus and kids rode their bikes to school or walked instead of turning their moms into a 24-hour taxi service.
We had one electrical outlet in a room, not an entire bank of sockets to power a dozen appliances. And we didn’t need a computerized gadget to receive a signal from satellites 2,000 miles out in space in order to find the nearest pizza joint.
But isn’t it sad the current generation laments how wasteful we old folks were just because we didn’t have the green thing back then?

Whether small or big, whenever I get to know, any of facts about the nature, my only response is AMAZING!!, and I really mean it, it really amaze me, how everything in the nature is so perfect, with some logic behind. We human do not understand the logic always, but when we do.. simply, amaze us. Do you agree?? Just think, why fingers of you hand is equally divided in three parts? Why color of flower of wild turmeric is pink, though turmeric is yellow? The list of this kind of questions is endless.

Suicide
0
February 8th, 2011Khushi and Nature
Few months before, very often newspaper headlines were about suicide of farmers. The reason came in lime light was financial crisis because their farms couldn’t gave out desired quality or quantity of crops. Again reason for poor quality given were, lack of irrigation water or so. :( But main reason behind is poor quality of seeds. :( Seeds are germinated in such poor and suffocative conditions, that the quality of seeds suffer mainly because of genetic mutation. More ever in absence of fodder native plants, dependent fauna which can act as natural pesticides suffer, and so farmers compelled to use artificial pesticides, excessive use of it, not only effect quality of crop but also land and so in turn affect the next coming crop too, germinated in same land, the poisonous one. Again local fauna depending on native trees not only help in pollination, seed dispersion but also proper germination of seeds as well prevention from pests. Earthworms helps in taking food to deep roots, caterpillar which consume delicate and young leaves, not whole plant, which develops in beautiful butterflies, helps in pollination. So these local fauna depending on native trees is very-very important and so native trees for farms as well farmers. And finally quality of food we eat suffer, if farms, farmers suffer , may be I sound bitter, but we are too stepping towards slow suicide. SAVE ME.
Without understanding the natural cycle, if proper crop rotation is not done, proper native plants are not planted, excessive use of pesticides is not controlled, quality of seeds are not maintained, farmers would be compelled to commit suicide and so we too…

February 8th, 2011Khushi and NatureHuman body constitute of thousands of elements like oxygen, iron, calcium, proteins, vitamins and so on. Besides these elements, it needs lot of other elements for healthy life. Main source of these elements are Native plants or indigenous plants, as they grow in same surroundings/ environments as yours. They prove to be less useful of no use to people staying in different territory. Similarly foreign or non indigenous or non native trees do prove less useful or of no use.
For ages Indians are consuming various plants parts like Arjuna, Kadamb, Shami, Parijatak, Adulsa, Shatavari, Ashwagandha, etc. Most of them are used in medicines in Ayurveda. Some have health food values and some used in beauty products. For example Arjuna Tree is good for heart health, Sita Ashok is good for gynecological problems, Awala is good as preventive medicine against cold/cough, Bahava and Hirada is good for intestine, gulwel and Bhumi awala is good for liver. Most of cattle are dependent on fodder native plants for food, which in turn good quality of milk, and consumed by human.
In addition to shrinking forests because of farming, industrialization, etc., the current trend of nurseries causing big hazard to plant biodiversity. Whenever, anybody goes to nursery, they suggest non native or non indigenous trees, these grow fast and look good but having no other use. Because of non indigenous and monotonous trend, very less space is left for native plants. This no native trend, started from urban is now moving towards rural area, which is very serious cause of concern. It is affecting badly the local fauna dependent on native plants, so in turn quality of attributes provided by native plants, and so finally on human.
I think slogan need to change from GO JUST GREEN to GO SMART GREEN, I mean just tree plantation is not sufficient, one need to think of type of plants to be planted to maintain good ecological cycle in the region. To maintain biodiversity in our garden, say NO to non native plants, say NO to monotonous landscaping (trees of same species, as cause genetic problems). Say NO to plants which are planted in farms. Give land to rare native trees. Gardens without local fauna like butterflies, bees, etc is of no use. Beauty of any garden is not only by plants in it or say greenery, it is need to smart green, so have these beautiful local fauna too, for which native plants need to be planted.

My friends might be wondering, who is “me” here. Is it Khushi or anybody else whom Khushi wants to save??
Till last week, I had heard about plantation drive, save forest drive, drive against global warming and so, but last week I came to know something different in the same context, is that plantation of any trees , anywhere is not going to solve any purpose. But plantation of Native trees will do it!! Native trees?? Why only native trees, the first question crosses our mind?? Let me try to explain, what I understood from my neighbor connected with NATIVE TREE PLANTATION Awareness program. If I am wrong anywhere, please correct me.
Specific species of fauna, such as butterflies, honey bees, birds, etc develop on specific native trees and plants. With less number of native plants and trees, dependent fauna like some species of butterflies or insects are disappearing to extent of extinct. So “me” here is these dependent fauna. This affects on pollination and seed dispersion, so extinction of certain trees. Here “me” is these trees. These specific fauna helps in generation certain medicinal and food values in trees. So that is disappearing, so human is losing big source of medicine, health food, etc. So “me” is real me now , we HUMAN.
Plantation of any trees, leave few small areas for these native trees, so results in self pollination, and so genetic mutation of these plants. Again we are loosing medicinal and some other important values of these trees. Save ME !! the Human.
In rural area, some of dependent fauna like some birds, which can help farmers in removing pests from the crop naturally, are disappearing. Here “me” are these birds. Uncontrolled use of chemical pesticides again are making crop as well land poisonous , which ultimately is consumed by “me” the human. So, in short I meant to SAVE HUMAN, ourselves.
I want to help out my neighbor in this awareness project. And this is my first step, that is to make my friends aware about the danger we are calling ourselves by not planting NATIVE trees or rather say, planting non NATIVE OR non-indigenous trees. I will write more about the same in details in my coming posts and need your help in spreading this awareness, which is SAVE HUMAN.
Let me not forget to thank my friend, who is spending her time and money for this awareness. Good Job dear!!
